Dirtiest appliances in your kitchen

Dirtiest appliances in your kitchen

Your kitchen is probably the most frequented place in your home just after the living room. Just think of the time you spend there every day cooking and eating.

You could be thinking that if your kitchen appliances shine from the outside then they are clean. Recent study uncovered that:

  • 69% don't clean their oven regularly
  • 48% don't clean their fridge on a regular basis.
  • 62% keep using dirty dishcloths which could be a breeding ground for bacteria
  • 21% admitting to not washing their hands before food preparation

  • So, what do you think is the filthiest kitchen appliance of them all?

The one you probably use every day - your microwave! 8 out of 10 people don’t even bother cleaning their microwave. All the splattered food inside can lead to a bacteria build-up.

Cleaning your fridge using baking soda

Fill a clean spray bottle with 250ml hot water and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Spray the fridge’s inside walls, shelves and inside of the door. Wipe clean with a wet sponge or cloth and enjoy your fresh smelling fridge.

    Cleaning your microwave using lemon

Fill a microwaveable bowl with 120ml of water. Cut one lemon in half, squeeze both pieces into the bowl with water. Place in the microwave on high power for 3 minutes, then leave to stand and work its magic for another 5 minutes. Wipe clean the inside of the microwave with a wet sponge or cloth.

    Cleaning your oven with vinegar

Pour equal parts of vinegar and warm water into a clean spray bottle. Take out the trays and then spray the inside of the oven. Leave for 10 minutes and then scrub the grease and grime away.
